This article reports that residents of Bright Hill Evergreen Home are enjoying more spacious surroundings for their daily activities at the new building at Punggol Field. The nine-storey building, which was officially opened by Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean, has day rooms on every floor for residents to congregate for social and recreational activities as well as their daily meals.The home also houses enough beds for 248 residents, compared with the previous home in Senja Road which had room for 180 residents.
A new wellness centre along Hougang Street 51 is expected to benefit 42,000 Punggol South residents.
Officially opened on 5th October 2013 by Member of Parliament for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC Teo Chee Hean, the centre would house health services and social activities for people of all ages. Health services include traditional Chinese medicine by the Sian Chay Medical Institute to counselling by Silver Ribbon Singapore. The centre will also hosts several hobby and interest groups at its premises. In line with the National Wellness Programme, the centre also hopes to empower seniors to lead an active and healthy lifestyle. About 300 polytechnic students also participated in the centre’s activities for this year's Polytechnic Forum - themed "The Power of Youth in Community Action". MP Teo Chee Hean has also joined in one of the projects at Pasir Ris, where students tried to rekindle the "kampong spirit" through games and activities. These projects are planned to encourage participants to engage the community through various avenues. |
